Based on a step by step process
RAW is Real Applications Workflow, step by step training for production that counts in the studio world! The process lines up like this:

1. A Creative Brief is furnished coming from a “client” or staff Producer.

2. The assigned team then creates a Treatment containing such essentials as the theme, title or/and story line … plus production notes, technical comment, talent thoughts, timetable and budget. The treatment is turned into a “pitch” aimed at convincing the Producer to underwrite oversight of the project.

3. With approval, Pre-Production begins. This may incorporate a storyboard, initial space plan (as part of an Interior Design Project), script completion, site scouting, crew and talent selection, etc. This is all about getting ready—but, proving to the Producer that the crew is, indeed, ready to create to a higher standard.

4. Production means shooting, final designs are created, illustrations are done, original music is recorded—all of the elements that provide the “pieces” for upcoming final assembly.

5. Post-Production moves the project into editing for a film production. For sound projects, this step may mean mixing on the SSL DUALITY system in B2R studios on campus. An Interactive Media program project may involve assembly of a working, interactive website for a real-world like client..
6. If the finished work isn’t seen by the target audience, Distribution has failed. Greenlight workflow takes getting work in front of audiences seriously. This essential step may result in a Red Carpet screening at STARS THEATER on campus, acceptance into a film festival or a presentation show before the client audience.

The above works when the entire production team is in sync. Don’t expect all projects to work to success. Just like the real world studios, there will be failures. However, failures here are also valuable learning experiences. After all, experience should have value.
